About the Author

Ever heard of La Diablesse or La Ciguapa

Do you know about Papa Bois

Do you pores tingle at the mere mention of douen and soucouyant?

Although widely known throughout the Caribbean as part of traditional folktales passed down by elders, these characters and their stories have only recently made it onto the pages of books.

While a sprinkling of modern-day Caribbean literature grants readers access to aspects of Caribbean history and its daily life, there is so much more to share.

I believe literature is undervalued for its ability to share history, influence the present, and shape the future - especially when it comes to learning about lesser known people and their cultures.

My name is Laura Carrington Baptiste. I have a passion for culture-namely Caribbean culture. As an educator, I'm on a mission to teach history through quality books and to inspire young minds along the way.
